On Friday 12th February, 25 North Harbour club and school coaches attended a 3-day long DRC course at QBE Stadium. The Developing Coaches Course is a NZ Rugby registered course and runs in line with World Rugby’s Level 2 qualification for coaches looking to take the next step in their professional development. The course covers a number of technical aspects involved with an ever-changing game and facilitator Bill Wigglesworth utilised staff from within the NH Union and NZ Rugby. On the Friday night our coaches were put through the Principles of Play (Attack/Defence) after having a brief introduction, and Saturday and Sunday were spent on-field putting some more practical aspects into play. The next step for these coaches is to utilise facets that they’ve learnt from the course in their 2016 seasons and to be accredited in due course by NH staff. It was great to see such a wide range of coaches from Small Blacks level right up to Prem club coaches and a couple of our NH Rep coaches too. We look forward to seeing how these coaches go in the future.
