Prem 2 and U85 Round up and Preview for 29 July

The Premier 2 grade played their final competition fixtures 15 July and booked their places in the Championship, Plate and Bowl semi-finals scheduled for this Saturday 29 July with the finals to be held 5 August at the top seed club.   Northcote are top-seed on the table with no losses and face 4th qualifier Massey at Harvey Wright Fields for the first Championship semi-final .  North Shore are tied in 2nd/3rd spot with the Kumeu and contest the other Championship semi-final  at Vauxhall Reserve.  In the Plate semi-finals East Coast Bays host Silverdale at Windsor Park and Takapuna play Navy at Onewa Domain.  In the Bowl semi-finals Helensville have the bye (Mahurangi has withdrawn) as top-seed and Marist host Glenfield at NH Domain.   All games are at 1pm apart from North Shore vs Kumeu at 2pm and Takapuna vs Navy at 3pm to allow Naval personnel in the Navy/North Shore sides to attend a memorial service at Devonport Naval Base earlier in the day.

 The U85 Grade play their last round of competition games this Saturday 29 July before semi-finals on 5 August with finals 12 August at the top seed club.  Kumeu remain at the top of the table on 57 points after their big lead has been whittled away with a few losses in recent weeks .  Northcote and Silverdale have gone from strength to strength and are tied on 55 points in 2nd/3rd place in the standings.  Massey is 4th on 45 points just ahead of Takapuna on 44 and both are vying for the bottom Championship semi-final position. The lower ranked team after Saturday’s games will be the top-seed for the Plate semi-finals with East Coast Bays, North Shore and Mahurangi the other plate semi-finalists. Helensville brings up the rear and Navy has withdrawn.  The results on 22 July were very tight and low scoring events typical of the U85 grade and are as follows:

Northcote 16 Kumeu 15
