It was a mixed bag of results for North Harbour Representative Age Grade sides this Saturday 12th September. With the majority of our opposition coming from South of the Harbour bridge it was always going to be a test of the physical battles up front. The Men’s B Team had a tough game away at the Waikite RFC against BOP and was unfortunate to lose 25-14, after leading at halftime. At the same venue our Women’s XV had a good win 26-0 against the BOP Volcanix Development XV. This team has had an unbeaten run since claiming the Women’s Regional Invitational Cup in late August. The Men’s Development B Team had a loss to Taranaki 47-19.
Across the bridge at Auckland Marist RFC our U19 team had a good win against the Auckland U19 B XV 32-10. This team will be heading to the Jock Hobbs National U19 Tournament following on from their final match against the Auckland U19 A team next weekend. In the U85kg division our boys continued their good form with a strong 31-8 win over Counties at Northcote Rugby Club. Left winger Adam Southworth scoring two tries on his left wing side. The Harbour U18 team started their campaign in the Blues U18 competition with a tough 33-0 loss to the Auckland Divisional XV at Auckland Marist.
The U18 Girls team however atoned for the boys’ loss by beating the Auckland West U18 Girls team 31-22 to put them in a very good position going into their final round robin game against Northland next Saturday. This team may yet playoff in the girls final on September 26th. Silverdale United RFC hosted four representative fixtures on Saturday as our two U14 and two U16 teams all hosted Auckland age grade teams. Unfortunately the results didn’t go Harbours way as all four teams went down to respective Auckland South and Auckland West teams.
